New CEO for Weldin
With a view to further growth in industrial projects, Weldin is recruiting a new CEO. With a strong background in the construction industry, as well as in sectors such as refining and offshore, Robert Uthberg will take over as Weldin’s new CEO.
Robert Uthberg has extensive experience in construction and steel-related projects and over 15 years of experience in project management. For the past ten years, he has worked as a site manager in the construction sector, responsible for organization, finance, and execution in projects worth up to hundreds of millions of kronor. In recent years, he has served in both client and contractor roles, giving him a holistic view of business, risk, and delivery.
“Robert combines an industrial background with a hands-on, business-driven leadership style. His experience working closely with operations while managing complex business deals and large-scale projects makes him well-equipped to lead Weldin forward,” says David Gustafsson, CEO of Proton Group.
“I’m a metalworker and welder by trade, so I know what it takes. I’ve worked in industry, refineries, and offshore, so for me, it feels like coming back to where it all began. It feels just right, and I look forward to contributing my experience and continuing to grow in this role,” says Robert.
As CEO, Robert wants to work operationally and closely with the business, with a focus on clarity, structure, and transparency.
“No one builds anything alone. For me, teamwork is absolutely crucial, both internally and in our relationship with the customer. We’re going to sell what we promise and deliver an experience that lasts the whole way,” he says.
No one builds anything alone. For me, teamwork is absolutely crucial, both internally and in our relationship with the customer. We must deliver on our promises and provide an experience that stands the test of time.
As a leader, Robert describes himself as hands-on and engaged, with a strong focus on transparency, structure, and attention to detail.
“Close collaboration based on trust is the most important thing. If something isn’t working, it needs to be brought up immediately. Then we can solve it together. This applies both internally and with customers.”
Looking ahead, he sees significant opportunities to further develop Weldin’s offering, including by broadening the overall business and leveraging synergies within the group.
“I’ve formed a very positive impression of Weldin and the team there. My first task is to familiarize myself with the business, get to know the team, and build on the foundation that already exists,” says Robert.
Robert Uthberg assumed the role of CEO of Weldin on April 1, 2026.
